Thats cold my friend.
I remember it well.
When I was on the road full time I was all over new england
I kept a small apartment in Laconia new hampshire.
Long way from home.
I hope your hunt went well.

Nice shootin'! all you need now is some hair in those crosshairs.

I will be archery hunting tomorrow. Tonight the temp will dip to 27 degrees...quite a difference form your Florida weather.

p.s. Good to hear from you saxman. Hope all is well. Smile

After my morning hunt I took the 45 to the range for a sight in.
these are the first shots from this gun.
It has a Simmons 3x9x50 on it

CVA Kodiak
45 cal
Stainless
Fluted

No swabing all day.
significant blow back in the breech area and the BP looked awful but it never misfired.

Maybe I'll use some teflon tape on this BP.

The targets are printed on standard printer paper 8.5 x 11
I didn't do any measuring of distance for the shots,I don't shoot well enough for that.

This gun is very pleasant to shoot but I prefer a break open rifle VS the drop action.I find it a little hard to clean and prime.

I did one shot @ 20yards to get on paper(no target to post for that) then moved to 50 yards

Weather Conditions
88 degrees
98 % Humidity
no wind
Or just plain old HOT!!!!!!

First target
90 grn BH 209
Precision Rifles QT 250 grn BT
W-209
I made scope adjustments after each shot.
#5 put me where I wanted it

Second Target
Moved back to 100 yards.
90 grn BH 209
PR Dead Center 195 grn
W-209
Scope adjustments after each shot

I did some work with the weed wacker at the range and extended it to 150 yards.

3rd Target
Same load as #2 but @ 150 yards
No scope adjustments
This target is marked with the wrong bullet.
I should be the DC 195

I shot better at 150 than any of the others.
My shooting needs allot of work but I did achieve Minute of Deer accuracy.

here are a couple pictures of my range at the sign in building at my lease.
Someone made the mistake of leaving a Bobcat out there with the key so I made a range. 4.600 acres and no one to bother.
Had some spare metal around and made this rest.

Looking down range from 50 yards.
That target is small

This session today instilled allot of confidance for deer hunting out to 150 for me.I think it is the first time I have had two shots touching at that distance.

Well,I'm back out for an evening hunt with my crossbow.
I havent seen a deer yet but have shot a couple hogs.

Muzzleloader season opens saturday morning here.
Good luck to all.
